Disney Cruise Line Shanghai Interview (Jan 9-10, 2025) Conclude Successfully!

Countless online communications cannot compare to the charm of meeting in person. Every in-person interview we have is like a reunion with old friends and the beginning of new friendships. No matter how beautiful the words are, they cannot surpass the radiant smiles on our faces and the warm words we exchange. Every greeting and every hug leaves a lasting impression.

On January 9th and 10th, 2025, Shanghai experienced a sudden drop in temperature, but the chilly weather couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Disney Cruise Line applicants and interviewers. Our applicants gathered from all over the country in Shanghai to participate in this long-awaited in-person interview. Our three interviewers, Mary Ellen, Celia, and Missey, also flew over 10,000 kilometers from Florida to Shanghai. Not only did they experience the cold winter of Shanghai, but they also felt the warm welcome of our excellent applicants. Interview Preparations: Our staff prepared coffee, hot water, fruit, and various pastries and snacks for the applicants, ensuring they had the energy they needed to stay alert while waiting. We would like to extend special thanks to Emma for her efforts in preparing various interview materials and ensuring everything ran smoothly before the interviews.

Snacks, Fruits, and Water in the Waiting Area:

The snacks, fruits, and water in the waiting area helped calm the applicants’ nerves as they waited.

Before the Interview:

Before the interviews started, the three interviewers had a brief meeting with the applicants. They shared their personal Disney stories and growth journeys within the company. Mary Ellen, in particular, spoke about how she progressed from being an F&B Server to now being an HR Director. Each interviewer spoke with a gentle tone and a smile, which helped reduce the applicants’ nerves, laying a great foundation for the rest of the interview.

Disney Cruise Line Interview Process:

The Disney Cruise Line interview process is unique. We have a spacious waiting area where applicants can enjoy water, snacks, and a special surprise from Disney Cruise Line – exclusive Disney Cruise Line applicant stickers.

Applicants can choose their own sticker while waiting and prepare for their interview. The interviewers personally greet each applicant at the entrance of the interview room, introducing themselves and engaging in brief social interactions before heading into the interview room together.

These small details make the interview feel less like a formal process and more like a friendly chat between old friends.

Interview Duration and Atmosphere:

The interview lasts 20-30 minutes (depending on the position). During the interview, applicants engage in one-on-one conversations with the interviewers. The process isn’t just Q&A but also includes private chats. It’s common to hear laughter from both the applicants and the interviewers during the interviews.

Our applicants really know how to make things lively. One applicant from Hainan brought coconut candy from her hometown, and several Disney park applicants brought rare stickers for the interviewers. The interviewers even discussed which stickers they had been searching for during the interview. We also found several types of Chinese candy on the interviewers’ desks. Our Gen Z applicants have truly taken interviews to the next level.

A Fun Moment:

The most amusing moment came when one applicant walked out of the interview room holding a fresh strawberry. This was actually an item Emma had bought earlier that morning for us. I was puzzled and asked the applicant how she got the strawberry. She replied that she had been eyeing it during the interview and, at the end, mentioned it casually, after which the interviewer gave it to her. This laid-back attitude and confidence were truly impressive.

Interview Highlights:

When the interviewers met exceptionally talented applicants, they would often bring them to another interviewer to chat more, transforming the interview scene into a friendly “girls talk” session. The only one left to capture this exciting moment was the photographer.

One of the applicants was a friend of one of our Disney Cruise Line crew members. The interviewer insisted I take a photo and send it to our crew member, offering greetings on behalf of the team. The emotional value was truly heartwarming.

Fun Photos with Tony:

Now, let’s enjoy the fun, cute, and heartwarming photos taken with our amazing and popular Tony teacher. These photos capture joyful moments from our crew members.

The interview process has concluded, and the results exceeded everyone’s expectations. Many of our applicants received offers for positions such as Dining Room Service, Beverage Service, Attractions, Retail, Youth Activities Counselor, and Stateroom Hostess. We wish them all the best with their boarding process.

In late February to early March, when spring arrives, Disney interviewers will visit China again to meet with our applicants and continue our recruitment journey. Which city would you like to meet them in? Stay tuned for more updates!
